THE F.F.F.A. CUP

THE F.F.F.A. CUP (Fake F.F.A. Cup) IS BACK!

First held in 2019/20, the Cup has returned.
It will involve ALL AA-League clubs from across all leagues, randomly drawn against each other in a straight knockout.

The Cup will be played over several rounds CONCURRENTLY WITH NORMAL LEAGUE MATCHES. This means that your team (and your team selection) might be PLAYING TWO MATCHES in the same round, against two different teams, one in your league and one in the Cup. (Both your games would using the SAME TEAM LINE-UP).
The exception will be the round of 32 - this will be a standalone round played during an A-League round, usually in Nov-Dec.

HOW DOES THE CUP WORK?

WHAT IS THE F.F.F.A. CUP?
The Cup is an extra knock-out competition staged between ALL teams in every division of the AA-League.
It is based on the Australia Cup (formerly the 'FFA Cup').
All teams competing in the AA-League will be drawn into the Cup depending on their league level.
If the total number of teams entering the Cup isn't equal to 16, 32, 64 etc, teams from lower leagues will have to qualify via preliminary rounds before a 'First round proper' is played.
From that round, the competition will revert to a straight knockout.
The final will be held during March/April.

WHEN/WHERE IS THE FIXTURE DRAW MADE?
Usually at the pub (Golden Barley Hotel, Enmore, Sydney) on the back of beer coasters, carried out by at least two members of League 1/2. After draw for each round, the fixtures will be posted here.

WON'T SOME TEAMS BE PLAYING EACH OTHER WITH THE SAME PLAYERS?
Yes, this is inevitable but part of the Cup, due to teams from different leagues playing each other. In reality though, even those teams are rarely very similar.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN AN FFFA CUP GAME ENDS IN A DRAW?
As usual, the team drawn at home in every round will progress in the event of a draw.
The cup fixture draw is completely random, so whichever team is drawn first for each fixture will be the home team.

HOW DO I ENTER MY TEAMS FOR CUP GAMES?
The same as normal League matches, by using the 'SELECT TEAM' button on your team page.
If you're playing a LEAGUE and a CUP game in the same round, your team selection applies to BOTH GAMES.

IS THERE TRADING DURING CUP ROUNDS?
YES. All AA-League rounds allow player trading, except the LEAGUE FINALS SERIES.
